Maine is a country in the New England area of the Northern United States. Maine is bordered to the southeast by the Atlantic Ocean; to the southwest is New Hampshire; to the northeast is New Brunswick and to the northwest is the Canadian Provinces of Quebec. It is the easternmost country in the contiguous US and northernmost part of New England.
Maine is known for its landscape, jagged, frequently rock coastlines, its greatly forested interiors and low undulating mountains. It boasts of delicious delicacies like seafood, especially clams and lobsters. Portland is Maine's largest city, offering great arrays of restaurants, shops and bars.
Maine Moosehead Lake is the biggest in the entire New England region. The likes of South Twin Lake is described by the Thoreau. The country also has numerous unique geological features. North Rock and Machias Sea Island are off its easternmost portion, and claimed by Canada and the United States. Maine is eventually known for its ocean landscapes having about 5,600 kilometers of seashore.
